Police seek help from public after car was set on fire in Hamilton

Police Scotland is appealing for information after a car was set on fire in Hamilton in the early hours of this morning.

Around 1.25 am on Tuesday, April 30, police were called to a report of car on fire in a car park in William Street, Hamilton.

Emergency service attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. A car which was parked nearby was also damaged.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

Detective Constable Stewart Walton, Cambuslang CID, said: “We are treating this fire as wilful and are carrying out a number of enquiries to trace whoever is responsible.

“Please think back, were you arriving home late, or were you woken in the middle of the night? Do you remember anything? Anyone with an information, no matter how insignificant it may have seemed at the time, is urged to get in contact.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 0164 of Tuesday 30 April 2019. Alternatively you can contact CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where information can be given in confidence.
