Police searching for missing Margaret Inczedi believe dog walker could hold 'vital' information

Police investigating the disappearance of Scots woman Margaret Inczedi say they want to speak to a dog walker who may hold vital information on her whereabouts.

Officers have determined that Margaret, 50, was last seen in the Berryhill Place area of Newtonhill, six miles south of Aberdeen, at around 6.30am on Saturday May 13. Coastal searches have been carried out in Aberdeenshire with the assistance of specialist police and HM Coastguard.

CCTV has also been released of a woman police believe to be Margaret walking in the street at the time she was last seen. Subsequent inquiries have determined that Margaret walked past the front of the Betteridge Centre, a community leisure complex, at 6.34am.

She then walked onto grass and moved in the direction of nearby football pitches around a minute later. A dog walker then walks between Newtonhill Library and the Betteridge Centre at 6.43am, and heads in the direction of the football pitches Margaret was walking towards.

Police believe they could hold important information on where Margaret may have gone since. The dogwalker was wearing dark coloured trousers and a blue top that may be a jacket.

Their dog was running off-lead, and officers believe it is a black collie-type animal with a white face and tail. The dogwalker has been urged to contact police as soon as possible.

Sergeant John McOuat of Stonehaven Police Station said: “We remain very concerned for Margaret’s welfare and this only increases as time passes. I would urge anyone who believes they may have seen her at any time since Saturday morning to get in touch.

“I would also urge local residents to be vigilant and if you have a shed or outbuilding where someone could seek shelter please check this and report anything of note to us. You can call 101, quoting reference 1360 of 13 May, 2023.”

Margaret is described as being 5ft 3in tall, of slim build with dark red hair. She is believed to wearing a grey hooded top and black jogging bottoms, as depicted in a CCTV image released on Sunday.
