Police searching for missing man recover a body from water near Canderside Toll

The body of a man was recovered from water near Canderside Toll in Larkhall on Monday morning.

Police Scotland confirmed that officers from their underwater unit recovered the body at around 11am.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police Scotland can confirm that around 11am on Monday, October 19, officers from the Underwater Unit recovered the body of a man from water near Canderside Toll in Larkhall.

“Although formal identification has still to take place, the family of Andrew Ballantyne, who was reported missing from Stonehouse on  October 6, has been informed.

“A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Police issued a search for 35-year-old Andrew last week after he was last seen in the area on Saturday, October 3.
