Police searching for missing man recover a body from River Clyde

The body of a man has been recovered from the River Clyde following a three-day marine search.

Police Scotland confirmed that the body was recovered from an area of the river near Uddingston, around 2pm on Monday, August 17.

The family of missing man Robert Kelly,  44, who was reported missing since Saturday, August 15, have been made aware of the discovery.

The search followed reports that a 44-year-old was in difficulty in the water over the weekend at a stretch of the river near Strathclyde Path, Uddingston.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Formal identification is yet to take place and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
