Police have found a body in their search for a missing elderly man.
Officers launched a search for Norman Stewart, 86, yesterday (Tuesday).
He was last seen at 4pm on The Strand in Horwich.
Overnight, 22 Bolton Mountain Rescue volunteers were drafted in to help with the search into the early hours, in the area of Rivington Moor and Wilder's Moor.
This morning (Wednesday), the search was called off.
Mr Stewart was sadly found 'outside of the search area'.
Officers are not treating his death as suspicious - and a file will be passed to the coroner.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police searching for a missing man have sadly found a body.
"He has been identified as the missing 86-year-old, Norman Stewart.
"Police are not treating this as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner."
Bolton Mountain Rescue Team sent condolences to Mr Stewart's loved ones.
A statement read: "At 2.21am this morning the team was requested to assist Greater Manchester Police with a search for a missing 86 year old male from Horwich in the area of Rivington Moor and Wilder's Moor.
"22 of our volunteer team members attended and searched through the night in freezing conditions.
"Sadly the search was called off at 08:35 with the news that a body had been found, outside of the search area.
"Our condolences go to the family and friends of the gentleman concerned."
