Police searching for missing Leeds man Ian Kowalczyk find body

Police searching for missing Leeds man Ian Kowalczyk have found a body.

Formal identification is yet to take place but the 56-year-old's family have been contacted and are being supported by specialist officers.

Ian was last seen in the Pudsey area on March 26.

On Thursday, detectives said they were increasingly concerned for his welfare and released a CCTV image of him driving his silver Kia Ceed on Troydale Lane on the morning he went missing.

Earlier today, police set up a cordon in Bawn Gardens, in nearby Farnley, where a silver Kia Creed with the same registration was parked.

CCTV footage showed Ian Kowalczyk visiting a local shop (West Yorkshire Police)

Forensic investigators, paramedics and firefighters were also spotted at the scene, which was cleared down a few hours ago after police removed the car.

And West Yorkshire Police has now revealed a body has been found in the search.

The force's official Twitter account tweeted: "Police searching for a missing Stanningley man have found a body.

"Although formal identification hasn’t taken place the family of Ian Kowalczyk have been made aware of the development and police are continuing to offer support to the family."
