A search is underway for a 15-year-old boy who disappeared after entering a lake in Lincoln on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were dispatched to Swanholme Lakes at approximately 2.30pm following reports that the teenager was in difficulty in the water.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed in a statement later that day that the boy had not yet been located, despite extensive efforts by those at the scene and emergency responders.

The force stated: "Despite the very best efforts of people at the lake and the emergency services who arrived on scene, the boy has not yet been located.

“We continue to search the lake and our underwater search team will be assisting with this.

“We have informed the family of the boy and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time."

Police also cautioned against public speculation regarding the incident, clarifying that any information suggesting the boy had been found was incorrect.
