Police searching for missing boy, 10 in North Tyneside say he has now been found safe and well

Police searching for a 10-year-old boy on Sunday who went missing in North Tyneside, say he has now been found safe and well.

The boy was last seen at around 3.55pm on Sunday after visiting the Shiremoor Activity Centre as part of a planned trip.

However, it was reported he ran away from the centre before he could be picked up to go home to Washington.

Officers were growing increasingly concerned for his welfare and asked anyone with information to come forward.

On Sunday night officers said: "Great news! The 10-year-old boy who went missing in #NorthTyneside earlier today (Sunday) has now been located safe and well.

We wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the public for their help with the search - it is much appreciated!"
