Police searching for man who was targeted by motorcycle thieves in Salford

Police are searching for a man who was surrounded by suspected motorcycle thieves during an incident in Walkden.

Officers have been sent dashcam footage showing a group of men riding three bikes who surrounded the lone rider on High Street, at around 3.30pm on Saturday.

The bikers are thought to have been trying to stop the man and steal his bike.

Luckily, he was able to escape from the scene and two of the riders who were chasing him fell from their motorcycle before getting back on and riding away.

In a post on GMP's Swinton and Little Hulton Facebook page, an officer wrote: "Around 3.30pm the victim was riding his motorcycle along High Street, Walkden, close to the junction of Campbell Way, when he was surrounded by males on three motorcycles - we believe the males were attempting to take the bike from him.

"Fortunately, the victim managed to escape the group and ride away. During the incident two males aboard one of the motorcycles fell off before getting back on the bike and riding away.

"At this time this incident has not been reported or the victim traced.

"We would really like to speak with the victim and anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage."

The would-be theft was discovered after police arrested two men on a stolen motorcycle in Little Hulton on Saturday.

While investigating, the officers were sent footage which showed the same bike involved in the attempted robbery in Walkden earlier the same day.

The two men have since been released but police hope they can find out more about what happened by speaking to the victim shown in the video.

Anyone with information or footage should contact GMP on 101.
