Police searching for man who pulled schoolgirl's hair in Washington

Police are searching for a man who pulled a schoolgirl's hair during an assault in Washington.

An investigation is under way and officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to.

It was reported that at around 2.45pm on February 27, a man was acting suspiciously outside the Co-op store on Victoria Place, Concord.

He is then said to have approached two females and started to engage in conversation, before he pulled the hair of one of the girls. He then made off from the scene.

The girl was uninjured but shaken by the incident.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Officers have been carrying out various lines of enquiry since the report and have now identified a man they would like to trace in connection with the incident.

"He was in the area at the time and could have valuable information.

"The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to get in touch via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website quoting reference 518 280220. Alternatively, you can email 3209@northumbria.pnn.police.uk."
