Police searching for 86-year-old man with dementia who has gone missing in Wigan

Police are asking for the public's help to find a man with dementia who has gone missing in Wigan.

Eric Tippings was last seen at around 2.30pm today on Downall Green Road in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

The 86-year-old was thought to be heading in the direction of Spindle Hillock.

Eric suffers from dementia, is unsteady on his feet and has poor vision.

He is described as approximately 5ft 10ins, of slim build, with short, grey hair and he wears glasses.

He was last seen wearing a pale grey hooded top with a blue/grey jumper underneath, blue jogging bottoms and white canvas pumps.

In a post on the GMP Facebook page, police said they are becoming 'increasingly' concerned' and 'want to make sure he is safe and well'.

Officers are appealing for the public's help and are asking for anyone who sees Eric to get in touch.

Anyone with information about Eric Tippings’ whereabouts is asked to contact police on 0161 856 7181 or 101 quoting reference number 2181 of 03/10/19.
