Police search of River Clyde continues after reports of man entering water

Police continue to search the River Clyde following reports of a man entering the water on Tuesday (May 11).

Today, Police Scotland issued a statement saying they have been in touch with the family of a local missing man, who are aware of the situation.

Officers are being assisted by dedicated dive and marine teams, the Humane Society and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, as well as a Police Scotland helicopter.

A spokesperson said: “The identity of the man has yet to be established, however the family of missing man Brian Hamill, who had been reported missing from the Partick area, has been made aware.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing."

Mr Hamill, 39, was last seen at his home address on Dumbarton Road on Monday (May 10) around 2.10am and hasn’t been heard from since, prompting a missing persons appeal on Monday evening.

Police later released CCTV footage of Brian in the St Enoch Centre in the city centre.

Police have asked anyone with information to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 1746 of 11 May.
