Police search for victim of robbery in Liverpool city centre

Merseyside police are looking for the victim of an unreported robbery in Liverpool city centre.

The victim, a woman in her 40s or 50s, had her handbag stolen from her, at around 7.30am on Friday, July 15. Detectives believe the woman had been walking along Seel Street and Hanover Street at the time of the robbery.

She did not report the incident, which was identified through separate enquiries, but officers have said they wish to speak to the woman. The victim is described as white, approximately 45-50 years old, of medium build, with shoulder length dark brown hair.

At the time of the robbery, she was wearing a white blouse, black trousers and a navy blue scarf/neckerchief and carrying a black handbag which was stolen from her shoulder.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 16 years old, of slim build, with short black hair. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, light grey jeans and black trainers. Detective Constable George Easterbrook said: "We would like the victim of this offence to come forward and speak to us, as this would have been a frightening experience, and one we are keen to see end in justice.

"You may be the friend or family member of someone who mentioned being the victim such a robbery last Friday morning, and for whatever reason did not come forward. If so, please tell us what you know, directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers. If you have any information, please contact @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 with reference 22000503680. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress."
