Police search for two Scots schoolgirls last seen yesterday

Police have launched a desperate search for two missing schoolgirls who were last seen more than a day ago. Niamh McElhinney and Kaitlin Dundas were last seen in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, around 11am on Monday, 23rd January.

Kaitlin is described as being 5 foot tall, petite, with long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a Nike jacket, black top, black skirt or leggings and Nike or Converse shoes.

Niamh, who was last seen around 11.40am, is described as being 5'5" tall of slim build with brown long hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, black Converse shoes and carrying a black Vans bag.

The 13-year-olds are believed to be together. Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the girls to get in contact and assist with their enquires.

Anyone who may have seen either of the girls since these times, or who has any information which may assist us with enquiries, is urged to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident 0297 of 24th January 2023.
