Police search for suspect and witness after sexual assault of woman in Adelaide's CBD

Police are investigating the sexual assault of a woman in Adelaide's CBD in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident allegedly happened on Flinders Street, near the intersection with Gawler Place, between 12:50am and 1:15am.

Police said the woman was attacked by a man unknown to her.

They are searching for the suspect as well as a witness, and have provided descriptions of both men.

The suspect was wearing a dark, long-sleeved top with a white top underneath, and dark jeans, police said.

"The suspect is described as being male, of Indian subcontinental appearance, about 30 years old, and tall with a slim build," police said.

"There was a witness to the alleged assault who is described as being male, of Indian subcontinental appearance, about 30 years old, about 170 centimetres tall, of medium build and wearing a turban."

Police have urged anyone who saw men matching those descriptions in the area on Sunday morning, or has further information, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
