Police search for passenger who fled scene after pursuit ended

Police are appealing for help from the public as they continue their search for a passenger in a vehicle allegedly involved in a pursuit on the Central Coast in recent days.

Officers were patrolling Erina on Friday night when they tried to stop a Toyota Corolla on Terrigal Drive, near Serpentine Road.

Police chased the Corolla before bringing the vehicle to a stop using a spike strip - the car hit a tree on Milina Street.

The driver, a 27-year-old woman, was arrested and taken to Gosford Hospital for observation.

She was later charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

A male companion fled on foot after the Corolla stopped and police are trying to track him down.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly found two firearms and weapons including a baton and baseball bat, which will undergo forensic examination.

Anyone with information that could help police can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
