Officers are searching a wooded area in Wishaw as police launch an appeal for information on missing man Ondrej Kaderabek.
Mr Kaderabek, 40, was reported missing from his home in Mossneuk Crescent around 9.05am this morning and concern is growing for his wellbeing.
Ondrej is described as 6ft tall, of athletic build, with short brown hair and stubble. He may be wearing blue joggers and a grey t-shirt.
Officers first arrived at the land, near Branchal Road, earlier today, with several police vehicles, including a horse trailer, present. Mr Kaderabek's white transit van is parked nearby.
Inspector Mark McLachlan from Motherwell Police Station said: “There are concerns about Ondrej’s welfare and extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace him.
“I would appeal to anyone, particularly near to Branchal Road and the wider Wishaw area, to please keep a look out for him and report any sightings to police.
“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 1002 of Saturday, 7 August, 2021.”
A group of concerned local residents have gathered at the scene.
One told Lanarkshire Live: "The police have been here for some time now.
"There's quite a presence, including officers on horseback. Everyone here is understandably a bit worried and hoping that the missing man turns up safe and well."
