Police search for missing rare Monaro

The 1969 HK model is thought to be worth more than $100,000. (AAP)

A rare and valuable Holden Monaro has gone missing in Adelaide just as police were about to seize it, believing it to be the proceeds of crime.

The 1969 HK model, thought to be worth well in excess of $100,000, was first found as part of an investigation into a southern suburbs cannabis crop.

In one raid, police found 15 cannabis plants growing hydroponically along with prescribed equipment and various collectable items including a rare coin collection.

A search of a workshop later uncovered 35 more plants and a number of high-value vehicles including two Harley Davidson motorcycles and the Monaro.

"When police returned to the premises to seize the Monaro, it had been removed from the workshop," they said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Its current location is unknown."

The car's registration is S836BRJ.

Anyone with information regarding the car's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
