Police search for missing County Durham 55-year-old Darren Blyth

Police are "increasingly concerned for the welfare" of a missing County Durham man.

Darren Blyth, 55, was last seen leaving his home in Trimdon Station to take photographs at a local beauty spot, around 12 miles away, on Wednesday evening.

However he did not return, and was reported missing to police late that night.

A Durham Constabulary spokesperson said on Thursday: "Police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Darren Blyth, who has been missing since yesterday evening (Wednesday, April 14).

"55-year-old Darren left his home in Trimdon Station at around 7pm, stating his intentions to take photographs at Hawthorn Dene.

"He was reported missing shortly after midnight when he did not return home."

Darren is described as 5ft10, of slim build and with short grey hair, and was last seen wearing a black North Face coat and grey outdoor trousers.

Anybody with any information relating to Darren’s whereabouts has been asked to contact Durham Police on 101 as soon as possible, quoting reference number 005 of April 15.
