Police search for missing 100-year-old Glasgow man as concern grows for William Johnston

Police concerns are growing for a 100-year-old missing Glasgow man last seen at 11pm on Friday.

The last sighting of William Johnston was in the Hopefield Avenue, Maryhill.

Cops say this is out of character for the pensioner and believe he may have travelled to Gretna.

William is described as white, around 5ft 6inch tall, slim build with grey hair and a moustache.

He wears glasses.

At the time of his disappearance he is believed to have been wearing an old-fashioned green jacket, a shirt, jumper, trousers and smart shoes.

Sergeant Abdul Majid said: "This is out of character for William and we are concerned for his welfare given his age.

"We believe he may have travelled to the Gretna area but he may still be in Glasgow.

"If anyone has seen William, or has any information on his whereabouts, please contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1533 of 29 August."
