Police search for man after suspected bashing death at Surfers Paradise

Police investigating the suspected bludgeoning death of a man in a Surfers Paradise home are searching for a 26-year-old they believe can assist them.

The body of 38-year-old Dre Nova was found alone in a recliner in the Markwell Avenue house on Friday afternoon.

He had sustained significant injuries and a post-mortem is being conducted to determine the cause of death.

Detectives said they wanted to speak with Coskun Marius, who is also known as CJ, as part of their investigation.

Mr Marius, who has a goatee beard and a distinctive neck tattoo, was last seen yesterday in Brisbane's bayside in a rented 2017 white Hi-Ace van.

The van had a registration of 526-XHY but detectives said the number plates may have been changed.

Police said members of the public should not approach him, but should immediately call triple-0.

Police believed he may have travelled to New South Wales.

Acting Detective Inspector Matthew Ward said a number of people called triple-0 on Friday night about the incident at the home.

"Those people are in the process of being spoken to police, and they are assisting us also."

Inspector Ward said Mr Nova and Mr Marius were known to each other.

"They are acquaintances. As to the extent of that relationship, I can't comment any further and I'm unaware."
