Police seal off street in north Manchester after 'gun spotted' and vehicles damaged

A street in Collyhurst was sealed off by police after officers received reports of a firearm.

Five cars were also damaged with a brick during a disturbance on Burgin Walk shortly after midnight on Saturday morning.

Police say a firearm was reported but 'no evidence' of a gun had since been found.

Thornton Street North nearby was sealed off for most of Saturday.

No one has been arrested.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called shortly after midnight on Saturday 15 May to a report of a disturbance near an address on Burgin Walk, Manchester.

"Enquiries are ongoing after a firearm is said to have been seen, but no evidence has yet corroborated this.

"Around five vehicles were damaged with a brick but no injuries were reported.

"No arrests have been made."
