Police seal off major road after serious crash

Police have sealed off a major road in Stockport after reports of a crash between a car and a motorbike.

The B6167 Lancashire Hill has been closed in both directions between Great Egerton Street and Belmont Way roundabout following the incident.

GMP are yet to confirm any details but witnesses reported seeing a collision between a motorbike and a car shortly after 6pm.

It is not yet known if anyone has been injured.

Pictures from the scene show a red vehicle inside the police cordon which has been badly damaged.

The vehicle's front bumper has been partially ripped off, with pieces of debris in the road.

A motorbike can also been near to the car.

One eye witness described seeing the air ambulance arrive near to the scene shortly after 6pm on Friday night.

The cordon extends to the bottom of Lancashire Hill to the junction with Great Egerton Street (Adam Vaughan)

A number of police vehicles are currently stationed at the scene.

Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted: "B6167 Lancashire Hill is closed between Great Egerton Street and Belmont Way roundabout in Stockport.

"This is due to a police incident. Please seek an alternative route."

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for more information.
