Police have sealed off a road in Edinburgh after a pedestrian was struck by a lorry earlier this evening.
Officers closed Wheatfield Road in the Gorgie area of the city shortly before 5pm following the collision, with both vehicles and pedestrians diverted elsewhere.
The condition of the pedestrian is unknown.
Edinburgh Live reports several police vehicles and an ambulance were captured on camera by a local resident.
One concerned resident said: "I came back from Sainsbury's round the corner and saw the lights but I’m blind as they come so I couldn’t tell, I thought it was roadworks or something because we weren’t aware."
And another anonymous resident had said their partner struggled to get a parking spot after work due to the ongoing incident.
They added: “We live on the street and my partner just tried to get parked after work and isn’t allowed on the street.”
One social media user said they had passed the incident, adding it had looked "serious" with medics administering treatment.
Another wrote: "Massive incident on Wheatfield Road in Gorgie. Ambulance were working on saving someone’s life.
"Hope the poor soul makes it. Police were in asking for cctv. Never seen anything like it in Gorgie."
The road remained closed for over an hour as both Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended to the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Wheatfield Road in Edinburgh at around 4.50pm on Monday, 15 November, 2021 following a crash involving a pedestrian and a lorry.
"Emergency services attended and one man was taken to hospital. Enquiries remain ongoing."
