Police seal off bus stop after man stabbed in head and arm during street fight

A man is in hospital after being stabbed in the head and arm during an "altercation" in Bootle.

Police were called to Breeze Hill at around 12.50pm today following reports of an altercation involving a group of people.

A man, 31, who had suffered stab wounds to his head and arm was taken to hospital. Police described his injuries as non-life threatening.

Detectives believe the matter may be linked to an earlier incident in Pervil Street, just off Breeze Hill.

A bus stop was sealed off behind a police cordon today.

A police spokesman said: "At around 12.50pm, it was reported that a group of people were involved in an altercation on Breeze Hill, Bootle.

Emergency services attended and a 31-year-old man was found with serious but non-life threatening stab wounds to his head and arm, and was taken to hospital for treatment."

Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said to the ECHO : “An investigation is underway after a man was found seriously injured this afternoon and are keen to speak to anyone with information on the incident.

We are making enquiries to establish where the victim was originally assaulted and this may be linked to an earlier incident in Pervil Street, before a further altercation ensued in Breeze Hill.

If you were in the Breeze Hill area of Bootle, or the Pervil Street area of Walton and witnessed anything suspicious, or have CCTV or dashcam footage, please get in touch so we can continue to piece together the full circumstances.”
