Police Scotland slam 'rubbernecker' driver who filmed M8 crash scene on phone

Police have hit out at a 'rubbernecker' motorist who was seen filming the aftermath of a crash on the M8 on Sunday.

Multiple vehicles were involved in the smash at Junction 15 on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway, close to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, on Sunday afternoon.

One woman was taken to hospital following the collision at around 2.30pm which saw traffic come to a standstill before the road fully reopened at around 5pm.

Her condition is not thought to be life threatening.

Police have now revealed that a driver on the westbound carriageway is in hot water after being spotted filming the crash scene as they drove past.

Road Policing Scotland labelled the motorist’s actions ‘completely unacceptable’, commenting on Twitter: “Glasgow Road Policing attended a road traffic collision on the M8, Junction 15 eastbound earlier.

“The motorway has now fully reopened.

“In addition to the RTC, one driver drove past holding and recording the incident on their phone.

“They’re now subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.

“Completely and utterly unacceptable.”
