Police Scotland have now responded to a string of spiking incidents that have been circulating social media.
There have been numerous reports of "spiking incidents from venues across Edinburgh including Bourbon, The Liquid Rooms, Subway Cowgate and Please Don’t Tell.
There have also been reports from Glasgow, Stirling and Dundee which has led to serious concerns from women across Scotland.
Police Scotland have today confirmed they are investigating the incidents but do not believe they are linked.
Edinburgh based charity Crew 2000 define spiking as: “Where another person adds alcohol or other drugs to another person’s drink or drugs without their full knowledge or consent.”
Spiking is illegal with a possible prison sentence of up to ten years if you suspect a friend may have been spiked it is advised that you stay with them, alert the venue manager or staff.
Don’t let them go home alone and call an ambulance if their condition deteriorates.
A Police Scotland spokesperson today said:
"We are aware of posts circulating on social media about spiking incidents involving injections in Scotland.
"Officers are carrying out enquiries, and a small number of reports from the Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow areas are being investigated.
"These do not appear to be linked.
"We take all reports seriously and we would encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of spiking in any form to contact Police via 101.”
