March 03--Police say no arrests have been made in the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man outside a Motel 6 in west suburban Schiller Park last month.
"It's an isolated incident," said Schiller Park police Chief Anthony Brzezniak, who would not elaborate on a possible motive for the shooting of Philip Scheau, whose last known address was in Des Plaines.
Police received a 911 call at 9:56 p.m. Friday for a "man down" at the Motel 6, 9408 W. Lawrence Ave., Brzezniak said. When they arrived, they found Scheau on a sidewalk in a parking lot at the northwest corner of the building.
Scheau was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he died of his injuries.
No one else was injured.
Authorities were able to identify Scheau through a key fob to his vehicle that was found on him, Brzezniak said. His vehicle was parked in the lot, but he was not a registered guest of the motel, Brzezniak said, adding that his department has had no contact with Scheau.
Scheau was pronounced dead just before 11 p.m. Friday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. An autopsy Saturday determined he died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing, Brzezniak said.
