Police say teenage girl shot and seriously injured in incident at Toowoomba hotel

Queensland police say a 16-year-old girl is in a serious condition after being shot at a hotel in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane.

The incident occurred at the Oaks Toowoomba Hotel on Annand Street in the Toowoomba CBD at about 2:40pm on Tuesday.

Police said the girl "sustained a gunshot wound".

The precise nature of that wound is not yet clear.

A police statement confirmed: "The 16-year-old girl was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"A crime scene has been declared and investigations are ongoing.

"A number of people were present at the time of the incident and are now assisting police with their inquiries."
