(Picture: Google Street view)Police investigating the discovery of a foetus outside Barnet Hospital have made contact with the parents and say no crime has been committed.
âOfficers were called to the hospital at 9am on Monday and found the 16 week-old foetus in a box.
âA man who police had been trying to find came forward on Thursday after a public appeal.
Police said both parents are both safe and well and the investigation has been closed.
A âpolice statement said: “We have consulted the hospital and are satisfied as to their welfare, that the circumstances are not suspicious, and that no offences have been committed.â
“âWe appreciate the concern the appeal prompted from the public and media, thank you for sharing it.â”
Detective Inspector Matt Coad said in his appeal after the foetus was discovered: “At this moment, our priority is to ensure that the mother is OK and that she receives the appropriate medical attention.
“This is likely to be a traumatic time for her, and I would ask that she makes contact either with us, her local GP or a hospital.
“We believe that the box was left by a man, aged in 30s, who was wearing dark clothing. I would also encourage him to come forward so that we can help.”
