Police say CCTV suggests missing Joseph Duffy 'entered River Clyde' day after family say he is 'no longer with them'

Police have said that CCTV footage suggests that missing Glasgow man Joseph Duffy was seen entering the River Clyde.

Officers are continuing their search for the 39-year-old, who disappeared from his home in Newlands on Saturday evening.

We told yesterday how heartbroken family members paid tribute to Joseph and launched a fundraiser after his “sudden death”.

This came after his sister said that he was “no longer with them” in a social media post on Sunday evening.

Joseph's fiancee Jennifer Abdullah also thanked him for giving her the "happiest time of her life" in a Facebook post.

She said: "I have never met the most genuine, loving, happiest guy who has shown me how to love.

"Our time was short but it has been the most happiest time of my life.

"I will love you always and forever my angel."

Celtic Football Club also paid tribute the the devoted Hoops fan on Twitter yesterday afternoon.

They wrote: "We are saddened to hear of the passing of Celtic FC fan Joseph Duffy.

"The thoughts and prayers from everyone at the club are with Joseph's family and friends at this difficult time."

However, police say that Joseph remains a missing person as force divers continue to search an area of the Clyde around the King George V Bridge.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Joseph Duffy was last seen around midnight just before going to bed at his home in Kirkoswald Road, Newlands. He was not in the house on the Saturday morning and his family contacted police and reported him missing.

“As part of ongoing enquiries to locate Joseph, officers have been reviewing CCTV footage and there is evidence to suggest Joseph may have entered the River Clyde at the King George V Bridge.

“Police divers have been searching the area, however Joseph has not been found and remains a missing person.

“Joseph’s family has been advised of the circumstances surrounding these movements, however, enquiries will continue to try and locate Joseph. If anyone has any information they are asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1411 of April 11, 2020.”
