TAMPA, Fla. — The eye in the sky doesn't lie, as they say. And Antonio Brown knows all about surveillance cameras.
Brown is alleged to have destroyed a security camera at the gated community where he lives just a couple weeks before ending his eight-game NFL suspension and signing a one-year deal with the Bucs.
According to a Hollywood, Florida, police report obtained by the Miami Herald, Brown was accused of angrily destroying a surveillance camera and throwing his bicycle at the security-guard shack.
Police determined they had enough to charge Brown with misdemeanor criminal mischief for the Oct. 15 incident, but the president of the homeowners association decided not to press charges, saying she feared Brown "might retaliate against her employees."
The Hollywood police department "exceptionally cleared" the case Nov. 5, according to the report.
According to the report, Brown was upset that a security guard denied access to a guest who wanted to visit him. Brown had "gate restrictions" that required him to be at the gate in person to escort guests inside.
Brown cursed the guard and "threw his bicycle at the guard gate arm," locking it in the up position. He then approached the guard shack and began to strike one of the surveillance cameras, causing it to break, according to the report.
The property manager told police Brown also entered her office, cursed at her and pulled some fliers off the wall and threw them on the floor.
Sylvia Berman, the HOA president, downplayed the incident on Monday, telling the Herald, "it's not that we're afraid of him." She said the board thought the incident was too minor to press charges and that Brown agreed to pay for the broken camera.
"We're aware of the reported incident involving Antonio Brown prior to his signing," the Bucs said in a statement. "When Antonio joined us, we were clear about what we expected and required of him. Thus far, he has met all expectations we have in place."
Two weeks ago, Brown said Tom Brady had hooked him up with personal life coach Tony Robbins, and he was working on his anger issues.
"I spent a lot of time sitting with him, developing some positive things within, changing my outlook on a couple of things," Brown said. "Battling to keep away from anger — you know, just being able to be positive and see the positive in things, not letting my emotion or frustration ruin my outlook of what's in front of me.
"I just feel like I'm a better person. I'm not a different person, but I'm a better person. I learned a lot about myself working on myself for a year and a half.
