A human skull has been found by a member of the public in Motherwell in the early hours of this morning.
The discovery was made by a member of the public at around 5.30am on Bellshill Road.
Emergency services raced to the scene after being made aware of the incident.
An investigation has now been launched by police.

Officers said inquiries are ongoing to establish whether or not the skull is fake or a piece of missing memorabilia.
The investigation is also seeking to determine where it came from.
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "There is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."
