Police rush to late night incident after reports of man brandishing sword in flat close

A man has been arrested and charged following a late-night incident involving a man brandishing a sword in a flat close.

The incident happened at around 10.40pm yesterday (Sunday, September 6) on Elmvale Row in Springburn.

Residents reported a heavy police presence in the North Glasgow area last night.

Emergency services attended the scene where the 51-year-old was arrested and later charged.

No one is thought to have been injured in the incident and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed to Glasgow Live that officers were in attendance at the scene.

She said: “Around 10.40pm on Sunday, 6 September, 2020 police received a report of a man brandishing a sword within a common close in Elmvale Row, Glasgow.

“Police attended and a 51 year old male was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
