Police rush to Edinburgh quarry after body discovered in the water

Emergency services rushed to a quarry site in Edinburgh today after a body was discovered.

Police and other teams were present at the scene in Granton today after a person was found in the water.

At present, no further details of the person found have been released, as officers carry out enquiries into the circumstances.

Police are still present at the scene, with the emergency services first alerted to the body at 11am on Monday morning (January 4).

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11am on Monday, 4 January, a body was discovered in water at a quarry at West Granton Road.

“Officers are carrying out enquiries at the scene and work is ongoing to establish the circumstances and identity.”
