Police reveal more information about body found on beach in Skegness

Officers have said that the circumstances around the death of a man in his 40s, who was found on a beach in Skegness, are not suspicious.

A man was found on the beach at the Grand Parade in the coastal town at around 5.40am yesterday morning (April 14).

Lincolnshire Police were called to the scene and on arrival they confirmed that the man had died, reports Lincolnshire Live.

The force released a statement yesterday saying they couldn't rule out a medical episode, but said the death was being treated as ‘unexplained’.

However, today police said the cause was a ‘sudden death’ and have said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding how the man died.

The news that a body had been found had left a lot of people in the town in shock yesterday.

Barry Robinson told Lincolnshire Live: “It is not nice to hear of any deaths on the beach.

“A death is never good whether it is a seaside town or not.

“You have got to feel sorry for the relatives.”

Graham Cummings added: “It is terrible, it is never a good thing to hear [that someone has died].

"The beach is pretty well used.”

Councillor Mark Anderson said he was shocked to hear about the tragic incident.

“It is very, very sad. We are all shocked in Skegness to hear about it,” he said.

“We don’t know the circumstances but someone out there has lost a son.

“We are all heartbroken.”
