Police response to Bristol Hippodrome amid report of 'threatening' man

A man acting in a 'threatening manner' prompted a police response to the Bristol Hippodrome this evening.

Officers arrived at the theatre on St Augustine's Parade following a call shortly before 7pm (Thursday, August 26).

Pictures from the scene show a car outside the venue and officers appearing to speak to a staff member.

Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement: “Officers attended the Bristol Hippodrome this evening following a call shortly before 7pm that a male outside the Bristol Hippodrome was acting in a threatening manner.

“While at the scene, a member of the public also reported to officers he had been pushed over causing his mobile phone to be damaged.

“Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to contact us online, or on 101, quoting reference number 5221197633.”

Bristol Hippodrome was closed for 16 months during the covid-19 pandemic but reopened after most legal restrictions were lifted on July 19.

The theatre is currently showing Disney's Beauty and the Beast: The Musical.
