Police rescue three children after one is beaten to death 'for asking for food'

Police in Brazil have arrested two young men after a six-year-old girl was beaten to death after reportedly asking her neighbour for food.

The girl died from traumatic brain injuries after receiving multiple blows to the head during an alleged attack by her two uncles, aged 17 and 19.

Three other youngsters - an eight-year-old boy, a four-year-old girl, and a one-year-old girl - were also reportedly subjected to sustained physical abuse.

According to reports, the the girl had become hungry and had asked neighbours to feed her.

Military police teams in the state of Goias, Brazil, swooped in to rescue the youngsters on Wednesday and detained the two suspects.

The adult was charged with torture and qualified homicide, according to local news reports .

Shocking footage of the arrest shows the horrific condition of the youngsters who seem to be in a state of shock.

The victims showed several bruises and very deep cuts to their knee and received first aid at an ambulance that was at the scene.

In the backyard of the house, covered by a sheet, is the girl who died due to the ill-treatment suffered.

The surviving kids were taken to hospital where they are still being treated.

The parents are likely to be arrested over the incident, according to the civil police.

Investigators have not yet given details about the case because the hearings of those involved and witnesses are still in progress.
