Police rescue dog from train tracks in Cardiff

A dog has been rescued after straying on to railway tracks in Cardiff. British Transport Police on train patrol along the Coryton line on Thursday evening (May 19) spotted the unidentified dog on the tracks and safely removed the animal before taking it to the Cardiff Dogs Home to be looked after.

There were no reports that the dog, which looks like a short legged terrier, was in distress or had been injured. The rescuers also gave no indication as to how the creature had managed to get on to the railway line. In an update posted to Twitter at 10:16pm on Thursday evening, BTP Cardiff and Newport said:

"Whilst #Cardiff officers were on a train patrol along the #Coryton line a dog was spotted on the tracks. The dog was safely removed from the tracks and with thanks to All About Paws our four legged friend has been taken to @cardiffdogshome to be cared for"
