Thirty years after a bandit sporting a mullet and a moustache and armed with a gun stole more than $50,000 from a NSW bank, police are again calling for public help to catch him.
On an afternoon in December 1990, a man dressed in a white short-sleeved collared shirt, black boardshorts and white sneakers walked into a bank on the Princes Highway at Rockdale in Sydney's south.
Armed with a small bronze handgun, the man jumped the counter and threatened employees before stealing more than $52,000 in cash.
Police renewed their investigation into the incident earlier this year, and now believe the man may have held up a second Rockdale premises immediately afterwards.
"We know it has been a lengthy period of time since this offence was committed, but it was, and remains today, a serious and frightening crime," Robbery Squad Commander Detective Acting Superintendent Grant Taylor said.
Police have released CCTV pictures of the man and are urging anyone who recognises him to come forward.
