Police release teenage boy arrested on suspicion of assault after incident near Fallowfield Loop

A teenage boy arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident near the Fallowfield Loop has been released.

Officers were called to a report of 'concern for a female' at Athol Road, Whalley Range, at around 3.50pm yesterday (Monday).

A 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital and a boy, aged 17, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.

The boy has now been released from custody, police said today.

No further action will be taken against him.

Yesterday afternoon, part of the Fallowfield Loop accessed off Athol Road was sealed off by police.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called just before 2pm on Monday 10 May to a report of concern for the welfare of a girl on Athol Road, in Manchester.

"Officers attended along with NWAS, and a 15 year old girl was taken to hospital.

"A 17 year old boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault, but has been released and no further action is being taken.

"Inquiries are on-going."
