Police release shocking high-speed chase footage after former Man Utd youngster is jailed

Police have released footage of the high speed chase involving former Manchester United footballer Callum Dolan.

Dolan, 18, who had just signed his first professional contract with Oldham Athletic, has now been locked up for eight months.

In the video released by police, Dolan can be seen hurtling along the motorway at speeds of upwards of 90 miles per hour. He was filmed by dashcam footage.

Traffic officers spotted him texting at the wheel of the vehicle as he drove along the M60 near Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.

The black Renault Clio weaves in and out of traffic, trying to evade the police car despite the fact that the sirens are blaring.

To make matters worse, rain can be seen hammering down on the windscreen of the police vehicle as the chase nears almost 100mph.

In a desperate attempt to evade the pursuing cop car, Dolan cuts in front of another vehicle and tries to exit the motorway via a slip road.

But, this is where the chase comes to an abrupt halt.

Still going at 70mph as he tries to exit the motorway, the police car turns left around the corner to see that Dolan has abandoned the Renault in the middle of the road.

He exits the vehicle in a hurry, leaving the car rolling down the tarmac as he runs off out of the view of the dashcam.

Dolan had borrowed the car from a friend and was reportedly late for training with Oldham.

The incident occurred at 11am on August 10 this year, only nine days after Dolan - who left United in 2017 - was unveiled as Oldham's latest signing after a spell at Blackburn Rovers.

The court heard Dolan, from Offerton, Stockport, had been previously banned from driving for 12 months after being caught drink driving following an incident in which he tried to outrun another police patrol.
