Police release 'scary' image of drugs disguised in sweet wrappers ready to be sold on the street

Police have shared images of the way drugs are being packaged to be sold on the street - which people have branded 'scary'.

Officers in Leigh executed a drugs warrant at a home in Railway Road on Friday, discovering hundreds in cash, a machete, a knife - as well as stashes of substances believed to be class A and class B drugs.

During the drugs bust, a man was arrested at the address on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs and for money laundering.

While, in custody he was further arrested for a breach of court order.

But when police posted images of the items found, the packaging involved caused concern among social media users.

Branded sweet packages, including 'Medicinal Nerds' and 'Stoner Patches' - a play on two popular types of sweets - were shown off by officers.

Coming in 'melon' and 'cherry' flavours, the bright packaging easily mistaken for regular sweets sparked worries that the drugs could find their way into the hands of children.

Police also seized a machete during the raid (Greater Manchester Police)

One Facebook user commented: "Wow, the packaging on those drugs is scary! It looks like they're marketing to primary kids."

Another said: "A child finding those packets and thinking they're sweets, doesn't bear thinking about."

An investigation regarding the drugs and money found during the police raid is ongoing.

If you have any information about drug dealing, police ask for reports through Crimestoppers either online or by calling 0800 555111.
