Police release picture of woman they believe to be mother of baby dumped in a park three weeks ago

Police have released an e-fit of a woman they want to trace in connection with a newborn baby who was dumped in a park.

Officers are desperate to speak to a woman who was seen in the area immediately after the baby - who has been named George by hospital staff - is believed to have been left in the Birmingham park.

The police have released a computer generated image of a woman they are keen to speak to as part of the ongoing hunt for the mother of the boy.

Baby George is now being looked after by foster carers after being abandoned in the park three weeks ago. He was discovered by a man out walking his dog.

The police have released a computer generated image of a woman they are keen to speak to in the ongoing investigation.

George was just hours old when he was discovered by a dog at a spot known as The Mound shortly before dusk on April 22.

Dog walker Terry Walsh told how saw what he thought was a discarded blanket but his husky Hel, lay beside the rolled-up shawl and began "gently nudging" the baby with her nose.

"Suddenly I heard this baby cry. I think it was Hel's gentle nudging and the heat from my husky's body that woke the baby up," Mr Walsh said.

"I was a bit stunned so I quickly went over and lifted part of the blanket away from the baby's face and it was newborn, as I know now. I knew it was very young."

He and a mum walking in the park with her kids phoned police and waited with the baby until emergency services arrived and took the child away.

Police say the woman they wish to speak to may have been wearing a grey zipped hoodie the day the baby was found abandoned (SWNS)

Despite an urgent appeal to track down the tiny boy's mum since the find, West Midlands Police have since been unable to find her - despite several appeals in recent weeks
