Police have released a picture of Hackney stabbing victim Joshua White as they charged a 16-year-old with murder.

Mr White, 29, from Homerton was found with knife injuries on Frampton Road at 2.43pm on Friday. He later died in hospital.

A post-mortem found he died of a stab wound to the heart.

Police investigating his death arrested a 16-year-old boy at the scene and he was later charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Stratford Youth Court on April 29.

Detectives have said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, including the stabbing of a man in his 20s in Wilton Way.

A youth worker who lived nearby to where Mr White was found, and gave her name as Hannah, said she went to school with the victim, adding that he was a "decent young man".

She added: "It's got to the point that the kids don't value lives anymore. It's just sad that this couldn't have been prevented."

Dean Saliba, 40, said he witnessed the scene when he arrived at a shop on the street.

"I turned up after. Someone in the shop said he was stabbed in the back as he ran to escape," Mr Saliba, from Bethnal Green, said.

"He was having a seizure when I arrived and there was a lot of blood."

Mike Mukuna, pastor at the nearby UCKG help centre, was walking close to the scene in the immediate aftermath of the stabbing.

"When I arrived it just happened. He was just bleeding on the floor," he said.

Mr Mukuna said locals had gathered around to help and had the man in the recovery position.

Detectives continue to ask anyone with information to contact the incident room on 020 8721 4961 or call 101 and quote CAD 4373/26Apr.
