Police release names of 17 people killed in White Island volcano eruption in New Zealand

New Zealand Police have formally identified the victims who died following the volcanic eruption on White Island in New Zealand on December 9.

Of the 47 people on the island during the eruption, 18 people have been confirmed dead, though one victim who died in an Australian hospital has not yet been named.

A further two people who remain missing are presumed dead.

The victims were citizens of Australia, America and New Zealand. They ranged in age from 13 to 53 years old.
