Police release more details after man's body is found on M1

Police have released further information after a man's body was found on a carriageway of the M1.

Officers were called to the northbound stretch, close to junction 31 and Woodall Services, shortly after 3.20am yesterday, April 15.

A body was found on the carriageway and the road was closed for almost 10 hours while investigations took place.

Today, police have confirmed the man was 24 years old.

Officers believe he fell from a bridge above the carriageway on School Lane and collided with two lorries.

His family has been informed and are receiving support from specially-trained officers.

Police are now keen to hear from any motorists who may have been travelling on the M1 on at the time, and who witnessed the incident.

Those with dash cam footage that may assist South Yorkshire Police with their investigation are also asked to come forward.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 97 of April 15, 2020.
