Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to after a woman was brutally attacked at a train station.

He is said to have then assaulted her further outside the station.

The attack is believed to have happened at about 10.30pm.

The woman attended hospital where she received treatment for facial injuries.

She was later discharged.

Detectives say they are now trying to trace Anthony Ellis, 34, from Bury, for questioning in connection to the incident.

They are appealing for any witnesses to the attack to come forward.

Drivers who may have been travelling on the A6 past the station between 10.35pm and 11pm are also being urged to check their dash cam footage.

Anyone who knows there whereabouts of Ellis is asked to contact British Transport Police by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 747 of 19/06/21.

Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
