Rehan Khan, who police are hunting over the stabbing of an 11-month-old baby ( Metropolitan Police )

Police have named a man wanted on suspicion of attempted murder after a baby and a woman were stabbed in Hanworth, west London.

Rehan Khan, 25, is known to frequent Hounslow and Isleworth, and has links to Slough, Newham, Hammersmith and Fulham, the Metropolitan Police said.

Members of the public have been told not to approach him, and to call 999 immediately if they see him.

The 32-year-old woman’s injuries were not life-threatening but the baby boy, aged 11 months, remains in critical condition following Monday evening’s attack.

Mr Khan was known to the victims, detectives said, but they have not yet established whether he was staying at the home in Swinfield Close where the pair were stabbed.

Officers were called to the house at 7.12pm to reports of concern for the occupants’ welfare. Paramedics from London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance were also sent.

The boy and the woman were taken to a west London hospital.

No arrests have been made.

According to reports, officers flooded the area following the attack and pictures showed police dog handlers at the scene.

A large blood smear could be seen on the white wall at the entrance to the terraced house, which was cordoned off, and a police tent had been erected in the back garden.

Myrtle Cantwell, 62, who has lived on the Oriel estate for 38 years, said: “The air ambulance was hovering and there was lots of police.

“The police came by and banged on the door where it happened. The lady next door came out and ushered them in.”

Anyone with information should call Hounslow Police on 101 or tweet @MetCC, quoting reference CAD 6981/4June, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
