Police release image of man linked to serious assault in Lanarkshire which left man in hospital with head wound

Police have released an image of a man they believe may have information over a serious assault in Lanarkshire that left a man in hospital.

The 35-year-old was attacked with a weapon near to a new children's playpark in Bothwell on October 22.

He required hospital treatment for a serious head wound and had been left badly shaken following the assault.

The incident happened at around 6pm on the Friday evening on Blantyre Mill Road.

A police appeal at the time described the suspect as a man of stocky build, around 6ft tall and wearing a green hi-vis jacket.

Now, a new image fitting the man's description has been released as part of a fresh appeal to trace him.

Police Scotland say he "may have information which will assist them with their investigation".

The spokesman told Lanarkshire Live : "We are asking the man, or members of public who recognise him, to come forward to assist the police with their ongoing enquiries."

In November, DC Christine McLanachan appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
